University Community Social Services, better known to our guests as The Meatloaf Kitchen,” is a volunteer run, restaurant style soup kitchen and social service agency serving New Yorkers since 1982.

Open Every Saturday

  • Join us for a breakfast of fresh eggs, turkey, cheese, oatmeal, coffee, tea and fruit.

  • Our signature meatloaf lunch served with a salad, vegetables, fruit and dessert! Seasonal garden to table produce. Vegetarians are welcome.

Outreach and social workers are on hand to help with issues related to welfare, substance abuse rehab, and finding shelter, healthcare, and employment.

Delicious Food

We serve wholesome,
freshly-made meals to hungry New Yorkers every Saturday,
with the courtesy one might
find at a restaurant.

Social Services

We assist our guests with advice
and referrals for their housing, healthcare, employment, legal, immigration, and other needs.

Volunteers

We operate with an all-volunteer staff, without a single employee. We come from all walks of life, bound together only by our shared desire to lend a helping hand to those in need.
